CRT Advocates,
We are happy to share some encouraging news.
The National Council on Disability (NCD) is hosting a virtual public Roundtable to promote Medicare coverage of Power Seat Elevation and Standing Systems. The NCD is an independent federal agency that advises the President and Congress on disability issues.
NCD has been advising CMS on this matter for some time and has been regularly renewing their recommendation that CMS provide such Medicare coverage. The two-hour roundtable will include perspectives from Members of Congress, people with mobility disabilities, clinicians who evaluate and prescribe mobility technology, researchers regarding the evidence base, and others regarding the legal and policy implications of coverage.
This is a very positive development in establishing Medicare coverage for this important technology. Senator Tammy Duckworth and Representative Jim Langevin will be part of the proceedings as well as various members of the ITEM Coalition workgroup, including NCART.
The virtual roundtable will be held on August 3, 2022 from 1:00 PM ET to 3:00 PM ET. All are invited to register and attend. Additional details and an agenda for the event are included in the invitation which can be viewed here. Click the button below to register on the NCD website.
