December 7, 2017 CRT Stakeholders and Friends, Congress is finalizing year-end legislation this week, so your voice is needed NOW! The NCART Board of Directors were in Washington this week and made 44 Congressional visits in support of the passage of H.R 3730 as part of Congress' year-end activity. H.R. 3730 directs Medicare to stop applying Competitive Bid pricing to accessories/components used with CRT manual wheelchairs. Here's what we need from you: Contact Your Member: Call the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121 and ask for the office of your House Representative (if you're unsure, the operator will be able to tell you who your Representative is). When connected, ask for the staff person who handles "health care" and deliver the following message (feel free to personalize as you'd like). Message To Deliver: "I'm calling to help get H.R. 3730 passed this year to protect access for people with disabilities who rely on complex manual wheelchairs. The bill has broad bipartisan support and I'm asking the Representative to let House leadership, Ways & Means Committee leadership, and Energy & Commerce Committee leadership know that he/she supports this bill for inclusion in year-end legislation." (Add whatever else you think we would be helpful to highlight the need for passage.) Even if your Representative is already on the bill as a cosponsor, you need to call him/her and ask he/she help push passage at year-end. You can get additional information at www.protectmymobility.org, including the issue paper. We hope you'll join us in delivering this message to Congress. Thanks for making this a priority and calling your Representative today!
